Week 8 EOC: Deeper Meaning

To many games will overload the customer, or the people watching the college football bowl games. Making the games more rare will draw in a bigger crowd, as they won't have as many opportunities to see the games. Also, only having either the major teams, or teams with a major player playing will draw more attention than the basic teams that not many people are interested in. The scheduled date and time are important as you need to place the game at a time where many college football fans will be able to see it, and the channel should be available for everyone to watch it. You may even draw in new fans if u place it after the right show. The date is important because it needs to be on a day where people are excited and able to watch the game. Placing it on a week where there's Final Exams in college would be bad, as a majority of college sports fans support the college that they are attending. Placing it on a holiday could be good or bad depending on the holiday. If there are major sports games that day, such as the NBA or NFL, then that would be a bad day. Also, if most people are out celebrating something, then that is also a bad day. The games will get the most attention on a day and time where everyone can and will want to watch them. Networks should be aware of what is on other shows and what is scheduled around the game so they know where the attention is. If The Walking Dead is on another channel with a new episode at the time of the bowl, there is a chance the amount of people watching the bowl would be cut in half. If that show is right before the bowl, however, many of those people who don't change the channel would end up watching the bowl along with the people who were going to watch it anyways.

Week 8 EOC: Advertising in the Oscars

One issue at the Academy Awards was when they announced the wrong winner at the end of the show. Moonlight was supposed to win Best Picture, but La La Land was accidentally announced in its place. “As the "La La Land" cast was taking the stage to celebrate, a stagehand in the wings said, "Oh ... Oh my god, he got the wrong envelope." They walked back and forth repeating it. Stagehands, actors, production crew and journalists were stunned. Oscars producer Michael De Luca was peering into his monitor, trying to figure it out”. http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/la-oscars-2017-89th-academy-awards-pricewaterhouse-coopers-issues-1488184837-htmlstory.html. Another issue at the Oscars was the spotlight that announcement put on the PwC, or the people who organize the Academy Awards. “Mr. Ryan watched in horror as the bizarre scene played out before Hollywood’s biggest stars and tens of millions of people watching around the globe. In a dizzying turn of events, his firm, which normally occupies a back seat at the glamorous event, was suddenly at the center of one of the most sensational stories in Oscars history. “I knew something was up,” he said in a telephone interview” https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/27/business/media/pwc-oscars-best-picture.html?_r=0. A third issue at the Academy Awards was the types of jokes Jimmy Kimmel decided to use throughout the night. Many of them were inappropriate not only for that setting, but for any setting. “There was the bit where he tweeted at Donald Trump, and some ha-ha moments when he made snacks rain down on the audience. But overall, many of the late night personality's jokes landed with a thud — especially because more than a few of them were at the expense of people of color.  http://www.refinery29.com/2017/02/142737/jimmy-kimmel-oscars-host-review-racism

Week 7 EOC: Zuckerburg

Supportive communities are communities and intimate social structures we turn to for our personal, emotional and spiritual needs. Safe communities are communities that we as individuals all turn towards to make us feel more safe. Informed communities are communities that bring people together to do things we couldn't do on our own. To do this, we need ways to share new ideas and share enough common understanding to actually work together. An inclusive community is a community requires establishing a new process for citizens worldwide to participate in community governance. A civically-engaged community is a community where everybody is actively involved, and everyone wants to make the world a better place. I could use this to advance my career in a number of ways. Joining groups, or at least knowing someone in a few groups, gives me more connections that I didn't previously have. I have new people to talk to who can help me further my plans for my career. Depending on the group I join or meet people in, I can advance my career much faster than I had previously anticipated. My major and my career are all about the connections I make and the people I meet, and so the more connections that I can make and the more people that I meet the better off I'll be. I can use these groups in several different ways to further my career. Whether I meet people online in social groups or in person in a social setting, a beneficial connection will always be helpful.

A creative person who's always willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. I'm very passionate about what I do, and always striving to be better at everything I attempt in life. I'm a very motivated person who gets the job done, and helps other people get their job done.

I like finding new ways to solve problems, and I do whatever it takes to get the job done. I'm very passionate about what I do, and always striving to be better at everything I attempt in life. I'm a very motivated person who gets the job done, and helps other people get their job done.

A creative person who brings a different mindset than most people have. I'm very passionate about what I do, and always striving to be better at everything I attempt in life. I'm always motivated, and I'll find any way I need to get the job done, along with helping out anybody who needs it.

Week 6 EOC: Travel & Tourism Team Decision Making

Fall is a better time than winter to travel because not only is it not as cold, but the fall colors are more appealing to the eye. "Fall foliage turns bright red and yellow in Branson during the months of September and October. The climate is nearly perfect during these two months with cool mornings and mild afternoons. The president of Branson Entertainment Incorporated believes that the beautiful foliage each year is an additional attraction for Branson tourists." (pg. 147). Branson is a popular tourist destination for senior citizens, and offering senior citizen discounts would give even more seniors a reason to travel to Branson. "The city, located in central Missouri, attracts guests from all over the country. Many senior citizen groups from surrounding states take charter bus tours to see their favorite country music performers and enjoy gambling provided by local casinos. Outlet malls located near Branson are an additional attraction for tourists. Most tourists stay an average of two nights in the local hotels." (Pg.47). Branson could offer family plans like free bowling, family food discounts, and things like that that appeal to everybody. Some senior citizens really enjoy spending time with their families, and having deals for them would likely increase the number of tourism. "A cohort consists of a group of people who share certain characteristics. The characteristics of the people in a cohort may include income or spending levels, age, ethnicity, geographic location, credit rating, or any combination of these." (Pg. 147).

Week 6 EOC: Women's Sports

"Today, despite these advances, there is still a gender discrimination that still limits sporting opportunities for women at the intercollegiate level. Despite Title IX’s success in opening doors to women and girls, the playing field is far from level for them. For example, although women in division I colleges are 53 percent of the student body, they receive only 41 percent of the opportunities to play sports, 36 percent of overall athletic operating budgets, and 32 percent of the dollars spent to recruit new athletes." (http://www.athleticscholarships.net/title-ix-college-athletics-3.htm). Title 9 has made an impact towards giving women more equality on the college level, but there is still more we need to do until college sports, and the country in general, is truly equal. "The Huskies’ 100-game winning streak eclipses any team in both women’s and men’s professional sports, placing them among the greatest in history -- including the New York Giants, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New England Patriots (http://www.cbsnews.com/news/uconn-womens-basketball-huskies-geno-auriemma/). A women's team made history that no other sports team, professional or in college, has been able to achieve. It helps make major strides towards equality. "The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) was a proposed modification to the US constitution granting equal rights to women. After its passage through the Houses in 1972, it was sent to the State for ratification." (https://www.enotes.com/homework-help/what-significance-equal-rights-amendment-1972-334689).

Week 5 EOC: Plan the Superbowl Halftime Show

I would have 2 artists perform for the Superbowl Halftime Performance, one person who would send a message and one person who has such exciting music that they would get the crowd into the Superbowl even more. The artist who would send a message would probably be Beyonce, because of her stature in not only African-American culture, but American culture, or Kanye West because of how passionate he is about what he does, and how over the top he is when there's a point he needs to get across. The other performer would be Drake, because he is just as easily recognizable, him and, Kanye West, and Beyonce are all friends with eachother, and everybody would get into his music. He's one of the biggest music artists out right now, if not the biggest music artist out right now. All three of those names are basically huge brands. "Target markets often associate brands with successful athletes and celebrities" (Ch.5 Pg.153). "During the brand recognition stage, consumers know of the brand, but the brand has little influence on their purchases. Consumers view brands as valuable during the preference stage" (Ch. 5 Pg. 154). There will also be beverages and food for everyone to enjoy. "Soft drinks are a perfect example of a product line. There are several choices to meet the needs of different consumer tastes and diets" (Ch.5 Pg.152).
